TP-LINK TL-WR941ND Review
Review
If you plan to have a wireless router for basic Internet use ( web browsing , downloading...) and do not need advanced features like dual-band support or USB sharing port , I recommend the TP-LINK TL-WR941ND .
for a $49.99(at the time I wrote this words) you will have an N-wireless router with Nice features and solid performance.
it's the second cheapest N router we reviewed after the D-Link DIR-615, the two routers have almost the same features but The TP-LINK TL-WR941ND offers better performance, this is certainly worth the 10$ difference.
unlike most routers,TP-LINK TL-WR941ND doesn't come with Desktop setup wizard CD ,
the installation is done through web interface with a quick installation book (come with the router , you can also download it in pdf format here) which guide you to install the router correctly within few minutes.
PROS:
- 802.11n Draft Support:The TP-LINK TL-WR941ND Router is a draft 802.11n compliant device that delivers up to 14x faster speeds and 6x farther range than 802.11g
- Affordable price : the router is one of cheapest N routers , for 49.99$ you will get an N wireless router with solid performance
- Decent performance : TP-LINK TL-WR941ND offers an excellent throughput speed in both short range and long range tests, unfortunately , the router doesn't allow N-mode-only to test the router throughput in N mode only , so the tests are based on mixed mode(N/g standards):the router is one of the fastest routers we reviewed.
the router offers also long range can reach 350 feet with a stable signal : better than most routers who can't extend 250 Feet.
if you need a longer coverage take a look at Belkin N+ - Wi-Fi Protected Setup : secure you wireless network and eliminate the need of entering SSID and password to connect to the network .
with WPS, you will be able to connect by simply pressing a button or entering a short PIN code.
CONS:
- No Dual band support : The router can deliver only in 2.4 Ghz band and do not support 5Ghz like the Linksys wrt320n
- No Gigabit speed for wired connections : the router is equipped with 4 Ethernet ports 4*100 Mbps
- No USB ports : the router lacks of USB port used to connect a printer or an USB storage device, such as a hard drive or thumb drive, and share all its contents over the network ( Linksys WRT610n can do this effectively )
- bulky design : TP-LINK TL-WR941ND has a dated design with 3 external antennas in the back ,TP-LINK have to do more work on the design
