Linksys E1000 Review

Router Rating:

4.06

Linksys E1000 is a great choice for people who plan to buy a Wireless Router For Home Use use and do not need advanced features like NAS server or Dual Band (check Linksys E3000 review for these features).
the router is easy to setup and configure ,offering solid performance for 59 bucks , it could be a great deal.

PROS:

  • 802.11n Standard: Linksys E1000 Router is a draft 802.11n compliant device that delivers up to 14x faster speeds and 6x farther range than 802.11g
  • Easy to Set-up and configure: No knowledge needed to install the router, all you have to do is following the Manual and it's done in few clicks
  • Advanced Features: with Linksys E1000, you can Limit access time and websites with Parental Controls ,Easily access advanced network settings, Create a separate, secure, password protected network for guests .
  • Affordable price and nice design

CONS:

  • No Gigabit Standard support (wired connection)
  • No USB port : linksys E1000 lacks of USB port used to connect a printer or an USB storage device, such as a hard drive
  • although throughput speed is acceptable in a short range , but it drops drastically at long distances

User Reviews

I found the router useless

2

I found the router useless for gaming. The second I got a new, more expensive router, game play lag was nonexistant.

Linksys e1000 router

Very bad to setup

terrible signal strength

1

very bad signal once you are five steps away from the router. Much worst than my old 54g wireless router.

E1000 router

Absolute junk. Worked for a couple of months then the wireless side drops at random times, dozens of times a day. I have set the router back to defaults and reconfigured, messed with various settings and it does the same thing. Don't waste your money on this piece of crap.

Cisco E1000 review

1

Terrible performance, wasted hours on the phone with tech support. Almost immediately after 3 months, the overseas tech support informed me he could not help without a $29 or $39 fee. He insured me he would fix it for $29. It worked for 3 days, now am waiting for another overseas phone person to decide if I am worthy of a refund. Terrible unit - don't waste your money or your time on this product.

Nice router

PROS:
Very easy to setup, looking good, performs fine over wire and wireless(short range), though did WEP only for basic protection not to load processor much, need to be able to stream video. Allowed 5 laptops in a time with good speeds to internet.
cons:
Lacking some very basic features - cannot email logs, logging is actually very poor. Cannot block urls outside of policy. Small number of port forwarders avaialle. Performance fades very fast with distance.

Pretty standard, cheap router, nothing close to cisco enterprise

Absolutely useless router. The installation instructions make no sense and the written instructions on the Cisco site are different from those in the on-line video. I installed my non-cisco router in about two minutes. I am still struggling with the E1000, and may well end up throwing it out the window rather than wasting any more time on it. What a piece of garbage. I will never buy a Cisco product again.

Complete Disaster

I will never buy a Cisco product again. My last Linksys router died (2 weeks after the warranty period) and tech support (in India, naturally),sold me a replacement and shipped it to me.After 2 hours on the phone with Linksys tech support, it wouldn't install and the tech support operator told me it was defective and that I needed to call customer service to get a replacement. When I called customer service, they told me to get a replacement I would need to pay shipping charges and that I would receive a "refurbished" router!!!!No thank you.So now I have to wait for a mailing label and mail this useless router back to Cisco and go to my local electronics store, where if my NON-LINKSYS router doesn’t work CLEARLY it will be replaced with no questions asked.

linksys e1000 review

4

Pros:
• Excellent price/performance ratio
• Nice-looking router
• unlike my old Netgear router , I have not to restart it many time a day because of connection
dropping
Cons:
• Guest Feature Not available without using a software.

Bottom Line:
• linksys e1000 is my most reliable router so far. I didn't really need the E2000 and E3000 advanced features , or at least not enough to spend significantly more. Works well with all my devices. Connections are established quickly and I don't experience any droppage with my home (in & outside).

Great Router

4

Pros:
•Easy Setup and connection of all devices (I have a PS3,Wireless printer And 3 Laptops) .
•unlike most routers ,there is no additional worthless software in the installation progress ,a few clicks and you're done.
Cons:
•None
Bottom Line: I become addicted to Linksys Products , this is my 3 Cisco router after 2 WRT54G series routers
