Belkin N+ (F5D8235-4) Review

Router Rating:

5.04

except the lack of dual-band support(5 Ghz) , Belkin N+ (F5D8235-4) Wireless Router have all the Features you need from a wireless router and certainly worth its 60$ .

PROS:

  • 802.11n Draft Support:Draft 802.11n 2.0 increases your networks wireless range and speed than 802.11g
  • Amazing range :the N+ router offers an excellent range can reach 600 Feet easily , it's very impressive and much better than most of the wireless routers (average 300 Feet)
  • USB drive sharing support: Belkin N+ (F5D8235-4) Wireless Router features a USB port that allows you to connect a USB storage device, such as a hard drive or thumb drive, and share all its contents with all the computers on the network. With an attached storage device, you can store music, videos, and photos in a central location for everyone on the network to share and access.
The N+'s storage function supports FAT, FAT32, and NTFS file systems and worked very well with thumbdrives
  • Download Speedometer: Download Speedometer bar that measures the download speed of your network
  • Push Button Security (Wi-Fi Protected Security) : With support for Wi-Fi Protected Security, you can ensure that your wireless network is safe and secure with a single button push

CONS:

  • Bulky design
  • No dual-band support

Belkin N+ doesn't like one of my Androids, and more.

I had used a Belkin N+ as my primary router. While it was okay as a router and AP, it does have some major shortcomings as far as I'm concerned. I replaced eventually with a Linksys E3000, with a TomatoUSB build.
First, my two Androids do work with it, but, if the Wireless-N band is enabled, my HTC Droid Eris will not authenticate. Moreover, it won't connect with no security at all. My Moto Droid doesn't have a problem with the Belkin's N band. This is a known problem with the HTC Eris, and evidently the Belkin is one of the problematic wireless devices. Since need the N band, I had to move the Belkin to a subsidiary role.
My second beef with the Belkin is its logging. Not a good setup and I just hate to have to web into a device to cut and paste a log.
My third beef with the Belkin is the QOS setup. My RoadRunner broadband seems to be about 40 percent slower talking to the Belkin as opposed to my E3000 on TomatoUSB.

Piece of junk. Have been on the phone several times (hours at a time) with Belkin setting it up. Six months later, it crapped out again, before they acknowledge the problem is with the router. Has never correctly link up with my ROKU.

i like this router very much
